in this little corner of the interwebs, all the pages are written in XHTML5, or XML-serialized HTML5, to be specific. the only exception is this site right here, index.html, which is written in standard HTML5 because neocities doesn't allow this file to be renamed and is therefore always being served with the text/html MIME-type. neocities also doesn't allow the .xhtml filename extension, so i went for .xml, which works just fine.
